    Hi
I've just joined today as I thought it would be fun to try out a different sims forum and I need my fix while the official Sims3/4 one is down. I was on the official Sims 4 page for a few months but the constant crashes and some issues with a few members put me off. This was before the Sims 3 forums went mental though .

Anyway so some info about me. My name is Marie and I live in the south of England. Right now I'm looking for work. I went to university as a young mature student as my old job was leading nowhere, but the job market is terrible in post-recession UK so I've yet to find the the right place for me. I am a HUGE ASOIAF/Game of Thrones fan. I am really into fantasy and historical fiction and I'm also really trying to get back into writing my own fantasy fiction.

I've played a lot of Sims games ever since i found the original Sims in the supermarket. I became a fan and was given the Sims 1 complete collection for Christmas that year. After that, i was totally hooked! I've played Sims 2 and 3 extensively, with all Sims 2 EPs and SPs. To date I recently upgraded my Sims 3 with Late Night and Showtime, and now the only EPs lack only WA and ITF, which I will probably not bother with. I have a fair portion of store content and some NRAAS and ModtheSims mods. i tend to favour family play but I often go for historical (especially medieval) and fantasy themes. Sims Medieval was fun for a time but I do prefer the regular game.

I have mixed feelings about Sims 4. When I was first announced I was very excited but my interest has been waning for a number of reasons. I've got a preorder but I am not sure if i will keep it. :(

:welcome2: to our community Marie! Hope you like it, and decide to stick around! :) And indeed, the sims 3 forums have been quite "toxic" recently according to our members. So much so, ALOT of people have came over here for the nicer atmosphere and share their excitement and thoughts without being harassed.

We look forward to seeing you more around the forums Marie! :)

Haha thanks. The Sims 3 /4 ) have always had more than their fair share of trolls and strong opinions but I have never seen them as dramatic as they have been in the last few months with all the controversy about certain content not being in Sims 4, the CAS demo fiasco and the increased number of trolls. Even the Yibsims scenario from last summer was nothing to this. So I have a kind of love/hate relationship with the official forums.

Yet there are some wonderful people on there, in spite of all the drama.

Thanks. Yay for cute little bunnies. Yeah, I kind of waffled but didn't want to write just "Hi, I'm new" and leave it at that. Thought I might as well do a proper intro.

Thanks. I like the look of this forum so far. So much nicer than the buggy Sims 4 one EA wanted us to use last year. ;) To be honest I have been spending far too much time on the Sims 3 forums lately, but I tend to go through phases of lots of activity then take a break for a few weeks when I get really into other games, or if I'm in an intense roleplay campaign, but I always return to Sims fairly soon.

Lately I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to fight for a public release of the CAS demo and playing Sims 3 and Sims 2 UC so the franchise is in my thoughts a lot. The CAS demo situation even got me to actually use my neglected Twitter account on a regular basis. Still don't like the medium though! I much prefer forums and (up to a point) Facebook, yet the gurus seem to LOVE Twitter...

Hello Marie and welcome to the forums! Glad that you found this place and I hope that you'd stick around. I think The Sims 4 will be a great game! It seems that it it will end up being very entertaining and they did improve on a lot of things, like open up buildings and stuff. But go with your heart, whether you feel is best, since it is your money. Go on youtube and watch some sims 4 gameplay videos...there are lots out there now.

And yeah the public release of CAS can't come soon enough! I am ready to make some kids and really mix genetics!

Hi, Marie! I also just joined and so far, I've only met cool people! :D
And I agree, the Medieval Sims were different, but a little TOO different for my taste. I prefer the norm. :p

Yeah, I really want to try the new body shaping tools. I won't make any rash decisions with the preorder, I'm hoping I get the CAS demo in time to be sure either way. Like many people I was initially expecting a more realistic approach in Sims 4, but the cartoony sims have an undeniable charm and I think they look pretty good. I don't even have a problem with the hair like some people do. :) i do have reservations but the only thing I dislike about the look of the sims is the lack of CAST. But I lived without it throughout Sims 1 and 2, I'm sure I'd survive without it on 4.

I think my problem with Medieval was that the missions were limited and repetitive so after playing 3 different goals, it was boring. I seriously loved the way the Medieval sims looked. I have to keep telling myself not to install the game on this PC because I know I'd do nothing but make sims I wasn't going to play (ok maybe that is like the CAS demo for some people right now!) But like many people I foolishly expected more sandbox options and more building, which we didn't get. So it was half right and half wrong. Now if only I could figure out a way to get rid of cars and mod cons in Sims 3, I'd be all set! Alas, the game requires in game technology for so many of its basic functions...

And yeah, everyone seems nice here :) No trolls or mean people!

Every time I start a new household, I spend at least an hour in CAS... and it's all unintentional, haha. Less time to actually play the game. :arghh:

And yes, those missions in Medieval...

Hmm. I go through phases on CAS, it really depends on whether i'm making sims to play or just want specific themes in a town. I can get a bit bored if it's a big household but if it's just a few sims I can spend ages on them if I'm not in a hurry to play. I feel like Sims 4's customisation will be even better in terms of customising characters though.
