In-game Cutscenes in the Sims 4
I so glad to hear that the devs are not bring back Sims 2 style cutscenes but I wonder what if any in-game cutscenes they might be planning. I won’t speculate as I think it is better to wait and see when the devs tell us but I find this all to be very interesting!
The Sims 4 – In-game Cutscenes to Return?
Were you a player of The Sims 2? Do you remember how at certain milestones in your Sims’ lives that a dynamic cutscene would take you right into the action and show you the event up close and personal? Well, if recent information from GDC is to be believed, then these in-game cutscenes could be set to return in The Sims 4!
Below is the information released about the Dynamic Cutscene Sequencing.
From this information it does seem like a return of a system similar to the in-game cutscenes of The Sims 2.
If you aren’t aware of how the cutscenes worked in The Sims 2, a video made by
DonkeyChum2000 shows how these videos looked and the different scenarios where you could view them.
The Sims 4: Sims 2 Styled Cutscenes Not Returning
It was originally thought that The Sims 2 styled cutscenes would be making a return in The Sims 4 from
recent information from GDC. SimGuruGraham has since left a statement on
The Sims 3 Forums saying that these cutscenes isn’t something the developers of The Sims 4 are planning to include.
Hey everyone, quick update for you!
I’ve been browsing though all of your comments while you’ve been scouring GDC presentations for morsels of info. It’s been fun seeing people getting excited over these behind-the-scenes glimpses of the game and the new engine that powers it. I do want to clarify one thing in particular though so that nobody feels misled…
Although Brian (one of our talented engineers) discussed some of our technology called Dynamic Cutscene Sequencing in his talk, cut scenes in the manner that Simmers are familiar with from the days of The Sims 2 are not something we’re planning on including in The Sims 4 at this time.
If you weren’t already aware, GDC stands for Game Developers Conference. It’s a great opportunity for people who work in this industry to get together, share knowledge with other like-minded individuals, and have their accomplishments recognized by their peers. Although information from GDC talks can end up online, the discussions are intended for that specific audience. In that setting it’s appropriate to reveal the inner-workings of the new technology that drives The Sims 4, but it is not a forum to confirm any information about what features will be in the game.
I’m very much looking forward to when we next get to speak with all of you about the progress we’ve made since Gamescom and revealing more new features that we haven’t even touched on yet. Hang in there Click to expand...
