Family meal duration

Sims 1 is the only game where I felt this was handled correctly. In Sims 2 and 3, I often felt that sims took excessively long to eat together to the point that it feels painful even with a fast forward button. I'm hoping this is somehow addressed in sims 4 and that a bowl of mac n' cheese doesn't take 3 hours for them to scarf down.

What are your thoughts? Have you ever felt Sims take way too long to eat?

I've always felt like the scaling of time to everyday actions has taken FAR too long. It does not take one 5 min. to walk down stairs, not the case in the sims.

I understand why the games have always been this way, you don't want a sim day to last too long, but honestly I find it irritating. I'd rather the adult life stage be days if that meant actions more correctly met up with realistic times.


Edit* perhaps someone can create a mod that slows down time progression for those of us who prefer a slower-paced game?

Yes I do agree with you that it takes to long for them to eat, only for when all Sims sit down to eat together. But as I have seen in game-play videos, they won't stop them from talking while eating or drinking something, an I don't think they are talking because of the multitasking cause someone made them talk on purpose and they really can eat without talking if you don't prompt it. I feel that with a Sim near another Sim and while sitting together they may always talk in the Sims 4 and the only time for fastness is to make them eat separately far apart. That's my take on it, but we really don't know until we play it, especially without "free will" to see if they would still talk while eating together with it on or off cause I know they would do their own thing and start multitasking(I bet) on free will without the players consent, Lol.

Time went by way too fast in sims 3. I couldn't have my sims ready in the morning for school or work

Gurus said that time runs slower in Sims 4 than Sims 3, and I vaguely recall someone from Creator's Camp saying it was noticeably better. Fingers crossed that we don't need that mod! I resented having to mod Sims 3 just to make it behave at all.

Well, I've only ever played Sims 3 and I thought that the family eating at the table was wasted. If you have a big family by the time everyone finished their routing issues of trying to grab a plate your first Sims were done eating so the family could never eat together. I am really looking forward to more natural actions and especially the ability to drink while eating--not that I wasn't impressed with the eating graphics before--just was poorly time managed in my opinion.

I can only imagine the Seasons expansion pack coming out for Sims 4 and if they have a holiday like Thanksgiving, family feasts are going to look very realistic, Christmas parties too for that matter.

I rather liked that in Sims 2 the person that made the meal would serve everyone with a place at the table, after seeing that it felt stupid for the whole household to line up for their plate in Sims 3.
