The past few days we've had a boost in visitors, with other forums down we've picked up the slack for the most part. Some of our features including the ajax shoutbox and recent post lists as well as some other plugins I have added to the site we enjoy and rely on MIXED with the higher than usual traffic have really pushed our new vps server to its limits, and the site has got slower, almost to the point where pages weren't loading at which point I had to disable the shoutbox. (At least our host wont shut us down now like before)
Anyhow traffic is only going up from here on out as we approach September onwards and I've came to the realisation that we may have to think bigger server wise and have all bases covered allowing me to purchase extra resources for the server should we need them and when we need them.
Since the donation goal has been met for the july-august period, i've set up a new goal and this time its loftier and we don't expect to meet it, but the more in the server fund the better. I really can't guarantee we'll manage to scrape by and keep the site up and running as we grow even bigger on the $30 a month hosting package we currently have while keeping all aspects of the site up and running. And I wont receive our first ad revenue payment till the end of September, so i'm kind of stuck relying on the community as I don't have all the funds available myself this month to put aside as a contingency plan.
Anyhow i'll cut to the point, i'm asking anyone and everyone to band together and help donate as little or as much as you are able to. If you love the Sims, love the community and love this website we'd all really appreciate it.
If we have a monthly donation pot, I can have the funds there and ready to purchase more gb's of ram for the server, more CPU cores and more bandwidth as and when we need server upgrades to handle busier times. 11 days into the month and we've already used 500gb our our 1tb bandwidth allowance
But at least we have the opportunity to upgrade our server on the go, instead of having to switch to a new provider.
Every donation counts, and the more we raise the better! We accept donations via Paypal (you can still use your credit or debit card to pay through Paypal even though you don't have a Paypal account)
You can donate here: http://sims4forum.com/donate/ OR on the sidebar!
Thanks everyone! You are the life and soul of this community
